For Spacebar Media a company based in Kentish Town NW5 London. They were expanding their offices to a warehouse unit on the same complex. The unit did not have any present lighting what so ever or any data points for use of computers, telephones, printers etc. The only current sockets they had were floor boxes in the middle of the room where they did not intend their desks to be.

In total for this unit they required:

  • 1 single 2D emergency light fitting installed in consumer unit area
  • Switch key to operate light
  • 8 x hanging fluorescent lights
  • 12 double sockets
  • 16 Ethernet ports
  • Existing 4 floor boxes contains one double socket in each, an extra double socket installed for each floor box

The wiring methods we used was, conduit and mini trucking.

All the 16 data points were brought back to a patch unit and connected up via a 24 Way patch panel. All systems were after tested and issued a certificate for the work carried out.

Space Bar Media also wanted some additional work carried out in their main current office, they required extra sockets, extra data points and emergency lighting as the office area did not have any clear exit strategy.

We extended their current ring circuit on dado rail trunking to install the additional double sockets they required. The additional 8 data points they required we ran new feeds from their current server room. The emergency lighting units we took the permanent supply from the nearest light switch.

We first of all attended Space Bar Media to provide them with a quotation, having gone through exactly what they require we then went forth advising them of what the best solution and point of action would be for them.

Over the coming weeks we sent emails and telephone conversations back and forth in deciding what materials they exactly required in terms of lighting, sockets etc. We provided them with a fixed cost for labour and parts we purchase on their behalf and be reimbursed.

Following their accepted quotation we went ahead and arrange a start date. People work in their offices during the week day so we arranged for work to be carried out during the weekend. We had 3 electricians on site.

All work has now been completed to our customers satisfaction, and they are ready to move into their new unit and start working.

Work has been certified, insured and submitted to building control.
